In a regular poker tournament the buy-in fee and start time is known, it is unknown how many people will sign up before it starts. In a Sit and Go tournament the buy-in fee and starting number of players is known, the start time is not. Basically, you pay your fee to get a seat, when all of the seats are filled the tournament starts.

A Sit and Go most times consists of 10 players at the table with the top 3 players making the money. Here is the prize pool breakdown for the most common type of Sit and Go’s (10 seats).

• 1st place = 50% of the total overall prize pool
• 2nd place = 30% of the total overall prize pool
• 3rd place = 20% of the total overall prize pool

Multi-tabling in SNG Tournaments

If you have the attention span, you can also play more than one table at once. By training yourself to play multiple Sit-n-Go tournament at the same time (called multi-tabling), you save lots of time and your results improve dramatically. If you bust out of one SNG tournament, your time is not wasted, since you are still playing in other tournaments. It's like fast-forwarding time. Playing more than one game at the same time, also reduces the boredom factor associated with poker, since you don't have to wait too long to play a hand.
